The first feature film made in Euskera (Basque) in over a decade, GO ETXEBESTE! is a hilarious social comedy about keeping up appearances.
The Etxebeste family is well respected in their small Basque town – proprietors of a traditional Basque hat factory and citizens of influence – with father Patrizio (Ramón Aguirre) standing for mayor at the upcoming elections. But on the eve of their summer holiday to Marbella, they discover that they’re broke. The neighbours mustn’t find out! So they pack their cases, put them in the car and wave good bye to everyone. But midnight sees them silently return, and while everyone thinks they are away, they spend their holidays locked inside the house for the duration…
Winner of the youth award at the 2005 San Sebastian film festival, and featuring hilarious cameos from Luis Tosar and Guillermo Toledo (Ferpect Crime) as burglars (who certainly inject some mayhem), GO ETXBESTE! is terrific entertainment from first frame to last.
