Three extraordinary stories of survival against the odds. Peruvian director Javier Corcuera’s documentary is set in the outskirts of Lima, Peru, in the speech-chilling legislature of Turkey, in Sweden and on death row in Texas. A Peruvian child does grueling work as a stonecutter to support his family. A Kurdish woman wins a spot in the Turkish legislature only to be imprisoned for fifteen years for speaking one word of her own language. A death row inmate on the verge of being executed and a Hispanic grandfather about to lose a grandson to capital punishment, show tremendous courage and compassion.
