Antonio Cano, a top executive has a car accident that leaves him physically and mentally paralysed. He begins a bizarre ritual therapy designed to help him regain his memory—and with it - the number of the Swiss bank account where’s he’s stashed all the family’s money. Made just at the moment that the Franco regime decided to crack down on the abertura (opening) of Spanish society in the ‘60s, this film details, through the reenactment of key events in Antonio’s life, the creation of the regime’s “new Spaniard.” As in Citizen Kane, a clear reference, the search provides us not with an answer, but finally with a portrait of a person.
