Franco’s Madrid in the 1960s is a place of heavy economic restructuring and unemployment. Martin (Iglesias) and his dapper friend Marcos (Javier Gutierrez) reluctantly face reality, and emigrate to the relative freedom of Switzerland in search of fortune. They leave their families behind, take up residence in a boarding house and quickly adapt to their newfound lifestyles. The arrival of Martin´s wife Pilar and son Pablo will mark the end of their bachelor life. Martin and Pilar´s everyday life is their work, while little Pablo starts going to school and learns to make this new place “home”. When Martin´s father dies, they decide to return home, and much to their surprise, going home is far harder than leaving it was.
