This charming and wonderfully rich comedy charts a budding romance between two pensioners living in a Madrid apartment block.
Alfredo ‘Fred’ (Alexandre) is 70+, straight-laced, recently widowed and the new tenant. Elsa (Zorilla), his neighbour, is an eighty-twoyear- old Argentinean widow with a cheeky streak. Elsa bursts into Fred’s life like a whirlwind, determined to teach him that the time he has left to live – be it more or less – is precious and that he should enjoy it as he pleases. Their children, however, see their impetuous affair as a sign of senility. Elsa has a lifelong dream – to see Rome’s Trevi Fountain and re-enact the famous scene from Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Will unadventurous Fred be the one to make her dream come true?
An enchanting story of two people who meet at the end of their life’s journey and discover that it’s never too late to fall in love, Marcos Carnevale’s romantic comedy has been a crowdpleasing sensation with audiences at its Festival screenings internationally, and is likely to be just as warmly received at its screenings here too.
